Remember When Clowns Predicted the Weather?

Hurricane Matthew
Hurricane Matthew
2016 was an odd year for many reasons, but some of the most interesting events involved clowns -- yes, clowns.

Starting around August of 2016, people began spotting "evil" clowns lurking about mostly wooded areas in numerous Western countries, including America, Canada, and the UK. Shortly thereafter, the clown sightings spread around the globe. In all, scary clowns would appear in some 18 countries worldwide, resulting in police reports and panic.

Costume shops in New Zealand refused to carry clown costumes, as did Target stores. Russian Embassy officials in London warned British and Russian citizens against dressing as clowns, as did American police across the country. Professional clowns in Brazil protested whatever was going on.

That this should occur around the time of Halloween caused many to dismiss the incidents as nothing more than media-induced hysteria... but then came the hurricane.

And the clown sightings stopped.

Unexplained Aerial Phenomena

Unexplained Atmospheric and Aerial Phenomena

YouTuber "SheilaAliens" made this video a few years back, which shows numerous clips of atmospheric phenomena that are difficult to explain. In 2016, she made a follow-up video which explains some, but not all, of the videos and images. Some people believe the sky, and many of the things in it, is actually holographic imagery termed "The Sky Matrix," or "Moon Matrix."

Some commenters suggest it may connect, in some way, to the Hollow Earth Theory, which was part of a US military co-intel operation (MISO) involving The Space Race.

Canadian Forces Looking Into "Windsor Hum"

The Canadian government announced Monday that it is launching an investigation into the "Windsor Hum." For going on two years now, citizens in the area have complained of an unusual hum accompanied by vibrations. Residents have been unable to determine the cause of the disturbance. It seems that I covered this issue here before though I was unable to find the post directly.

Texas Caveman Discovered

Residents of a small apartment complex in Texas complained of a naked man who lives in a cave near their homes. A local reporter managed to speak to the caveman who said that he had been living in the cave for about three years. Residents say they sometimes see him bathing in their laundry room and working out on the kids' jungle gym. They even suspect him of stealing clothes.

The caveman refused to give his name. When asked what he was doing in the cave, he responded, "Surviving." He offered a pithy message to others to "do more for the community." Most of the interview was conducted while the man was inside the cave with only a portion of his face visible. At the end of the interview, as the reporter is walking away, the man appears briefly to wave goodbye.

TN Men Post Pictures of Dead Police Officers on Property

Two brothers from Kingston, TN, have posted graphic images of slain police officers on a homemade billboard in front of their property as a warning to others. The officers in the photographs were shot and killed by the brothers in 2006. They were allegedly there to serve a warrant, but the brothers claim the cops were corrupt and tried to kill them. They were never convicted.

While authorities expressed dismay at the posting, they admitted that the brothers have not violated any laws. The pictures were used in the trial against the two.

Underground Cult Discovered in Russia

An Islamist sect was discovered after living underground for nearly a decade. Members were as young as 18 months and had not seen the sun in all that time. Prosecutors ordered many of the members to doctors for health exams, but have no intentions to prosecute anyone at this time. They did warn that they would pursue the matter should cult leaders continue refusing to allow members to seek medical treatment and education. The Fayzarahmanist sect was named after its founder, who declared himself a prophet.

The Goat is the Word

Two goats are wowing California beachgoers with their surfing skills since owner Dana McGregor taught them the skill. Goatee and Pismo surfed together and separately for onlookers at California's San Onofre State Beach a few days ago. You can see pictures of the goats in action here.

McGregor says he originally got Goatee, a nanny goat, to eat unwanted plants from his property. He began taking her to the beach and teaching her to surf. He then taught Pismo, Goatee's billy, shortly after he was born.

Face Eating Zombie

This story happened a few weeks back but I didn't get a chance to include it until now:

31-year-old Rudy Eugene of Miami, FL was shot and killed as he attacked a 65-year-old homeless man in the middle of the street. Eugene was completely naked and apparently under the influence of what some believe was bath salts, a semi-legal stimulant often sold in convenience gas stations and adult stores. Eugene ate up to 75% of the man's face off. A policeman who witnessed the attack noted that Eugene was chewing and swallowing the flesh as he ate it.

The victim is still hospitalized. Eugene was shot and killed by a policeman responding to the incident. His girlfriend later emerged to tell the public that she always felt safe with him and that he was a dedicated, religious man. She admits to having seen him smoke marijuana once at a party and Eugene has a record of marijuana-related charges.

Two-Year-Old Wakes Up at Own Funeral

A two-year-old Brazilian boy woke up during his own funeral and asked his father for a glass of water. The child then laid back down and appeared to be deceased once more. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead a second time. The funeral was delayed for about an hour, but the burial was held later that day.

12 Sets of Twins Set to Graduate from GA School

A Georgia school has 12 sets of fraternal and identical twins about to graduate school. Reporters also found a school in Illinois that has 14 sets of twins in its sophomore class alone. While modern fertility drugs might be to blame for some of the twins, science suggests that twins are more naturally occurring to women in their 30s and 40s.

Many people have traditionally associated twins with things like ESP, mental telepathy, and fate/luck - both good and bad. As mentioned above, they are most often associated with fertility treatments these days.

Dentist Pulls Out All of Ex' Teeth

A Polish dentist, Anna Mackowiak, said she tried to remain professional and detached when her ex-boyfriend showed up, complaining of a toothache. However, she gave him a heavy dose of anesthetic and locked the door, then began pulling his teeth one by one.

When the patient awoke, he said he knew something was wrong but trusted her because he thought she was being professional. Now his new flame has left him over his toothlessness and he says he will have to spend a fortune in getting implants.

Anna Mackowiak, 34, faces three years in prison and is being reviewed for medical malpractice.

Why a Wheel?

The New York Times reported a strange incident on April 17th, 1969. It appears Ruth Stevens of California was driving when a wheel of some kind emerged from the sky and struck her car, leaving a one-foot dent. The article does not describe the wheel, nor does it give any further details, but no local airport reported any aircraft with missing wheels that day.

Hen Gives Birth to Chick

A hen in Sri Lanka gave birth to a live, eggless chick but died from internal wounds in the process. Veterinarians claim to never have seen such an incident. The egg incubated inside the hen and the chick hatched prior to birth.

A Sri Lankan newspaper joked, "The chicken came first, not the egg."

Boy Sold Kidney for iPad

Five have been charged with illegal organ trading over an incident involving a 17-year-old boy who sold one of his kidneys for enough money to buy an iPad. The boy, who has not been identified, is now suffering from renal failure and other complications. The surgeon who performed the operation was among those charged for the crime. The boy was paid nearly $5,000 for his kidney.

This all took place in China. The boy is from one of the poorest provinces in the country - a province most people leave to look for better jobs. It is also said that illegal organ trading is becoming a bigger problem in China, as demand for organs outstrips donors. Apple products are the most popular, but also the most cost-prohibitive.

Man Has Heart Attack at Heart Attack Grill

The jocularly named Heart Attack Grill nearly had a fatality on its hands when a man suffered a heart attack while eating in the Las Vegas restaurant. The Heart Attack Grill claims a menu "Worth Dying For!" and serves a butterfat milkshake. Luckily, the unnamed man survived his ordeal and restaurant owners assured everyone that it was no stunt.

Yellowstone 'Lake Music'

On the shores of Lake Shoshone in Yellowstone National Park, there have been reports of strange music that sounds similar to that of a harp. The source of this lake music has never been identified and few of the people involved with the park are even aware that it has been reported. The latest report of the Yellowstone lake music may have been as far back as the 1930s, but it was discussed rather often in the years prior to that.

A full discussion on the lake music can be found here.

Man Survives Months in Car

A Swedish man apparently survived since December 19th in his car. His vehicle somehow became covered by snow in the middle of a forest. He managed to survive the months without food, though it is assumed he ate snow for water. One expert assumed the man went into a hibernating state, consuming energy.

Valentine's Day Roleplay Lands Couple in Jail

When the cops learned that the handcuffed, naked woman in the back of a Subaru was there voluntarily, they replaced the fuzzy cuffs with real ones and hauled both her and her boyfriend off to jail for disorderly conduct.

It began when supermarket patrons called police to report what appeared to be a kidnapping in progress. When police arrived, they learned the young couple was engaged in a sexual roleplaying scenario.

Apparent Suicide Found Four Years Later

A loner whose mother's death sent him into a spiral of darkness killed himself in his home in or around 2007, but his death went undiscovered until the bank foreclosed on the property. According to sources, the city continued to care for the man's lawn and tax his property, but declined to collect until his bill reached over $30,000.00. His utilities has been turned off long before and the home thought abandoned.

The man had no immediate relatives and had told friends and neighbors that he was moving to New Mexico. He is thought to have shot himself; a gun was found in close proximity to the body, which was basically a skeleton at the time it was discovered.
