Measure 1. Project: ISIS, the KGB, and 23

The KGB's Project: Isis
Project: Isis
We do so love our conspiracy theories here to The OddBlog, and this one's got it all: Russian black ops, UFOs, alien mummies, hidden planets, Egyptian tombs, and the KGB!

This one's a grand-daddy, so strap yourselves in for Project: ISIS (23).

Every year or so, some asshole predicts the entire world is going to end on April 23rd!  It's always some halfwit doomsday cultist passing himself off as an Evangelical -- but, if you stop and think it through, what's the difference?  These doomsday Evangelicals are to 23 what the Church of Scientology is to Plan 9.

UK Outer Space Act 1986 (Project: Guardian)

Alien Autopsy (1995)
Alien Autopsy (1995)
In June of 1986, the UK government decided to legislate the use of space vehicles and, generally speaking, all activity in outer space.  This became known as the Outer Space Act of 1986.  Interestingly, it includes a provision limiting the UK government's liability in any cases involving the use of outer space vehicles and outer space transportation.  The following year, President Ronald Reagan curiously gave a famous speech in which he mentioned an "alien threat from outside of this world."

Some now claim Nazi scientist, Wernher von Braun, once noted that the ultimate false flag attack -- after a nuclear strike -- would be that of an "alien threat."  Relatedly, Sirius XM Radio was founded in 1990... but that's a series of different posts.

For whatever reason, enforcement of the Outer Space Act of 1986 fell to the British Transport Police (BTP).  To these ends, Project: Guardian was born.  The US and Canadian governments, in particular, were less than pleased.

And this writer is half-convinced that they let it be known with a cleverly staged snuff flick which was boldly broadcast worldwide on the Mafia-controlled FOX as a hoax (Alien Autopsy).

But that's an entirely different UFO post.  (Same conspiracy, though.)

May 15, 2009 - Kumburgaz, Turkey UFO / OVNI

Kumburgaz, Turkey UFO / OVNI -- 2009.

(Bear in mind that the extent of holographic imagery is so advanced at this stage, that this could be an elaborate hoax orchestrated as disinformation.  In fact, the story behind this amazing footage is that the source was informed of dates, times, and locations of the sightings prior to their appearance.)

Introductory Space Science, Vol. II - Chapter 33

For decades, many have suspected US involvement in clandestine space programs.  In the early 2000s, a Scottish IT specialist by the name of Gary McKinnon hacked US security, claiming to have discovered definitive proof of just such a thing.  Lending some apparent credence to McKinnon's claims is the existence of Chapter 33 from the Introductory Space Science, VOL II book used to instruct US Air Force officers from 1968 to at least 1970.

In 1970, Chapter 33 of Introductory Space Science, Vol. II was edited to include information from "The Condon Report," or Project Blue Book.  Part of the text reads, "Approximately 6% of the UFO reports collected by Project Blue Book are officially listed as 'unexplained.'"  Project Blue Book was a USAF investigation into UFO sightings from 1947 to 1969 which operated under at least different three names, including "Sign," and "Grudge."

The last sentence of Chapter 33 of Introductory Space Science, Vol. II reads, "The best thing to do is to keep an open and skeptical mind, and not take an extreme position on any side of the question."

Paranormal Selections on Roku

If you have Roku, there are several outlets carrying UFO and paranormal themed shows.  In fact, if you check your Channel Store under Special Interest, you will find an entire channel dedicated to these topics.  The channel, Midnight Pulp, also has several documentaries and specials dedicated to such diverse topics as the occult, aliens, and Bigfoot.  It carries some (fictional) horror flicks featuring these subjects, as well.

UFOs & Aliens on Roku

Roku has a new channel featuring reports of aliens and UFOs.  I have not actually sampled the channel myself, though I do have access to it, as I was excited enough to share the information first. You can find the new channel in your Channel Store under "Special Interests." To add it, simply click on the channel and select "Add Channel."

Roku is basically a router/modem for your TV which allows you to view Internet stations on your TV. It is available at most general stores for around $60 as well as online.

Creature Filmed in Brazilian Rainforest

UPDATE 2019

This has no audio but I don't recall if the video originally posted had audio.  I couldn't find the original video but I'm fairly certain it was this one.

Bear in mind that I have no way of knowing where, when, or even why this video was filmed nor anything else about it.  The "alien" looks like a severely malnourished child with an extreme case of hydrocephalis.  It's entirely possible the child could have been abandoned or banished and the whole clip is taken out of context.

Manpig Born in South America

'It looked like some kind of alien creature,' a local farmer told reporters about a piglet born with an eerily human-looking face. What makes the story double interesting is the fact that bright lights were seen in the area the night the piglet was born, leading some to believe the pig's human-like face may have been the work of aliens!

Of course, most scientists reject the notion of aliens having anything to do with it, suggesting that chemical pollution or some kind of genetic issue may have caused the birth defect. Citizens in Santa Cruz El Chol in Guatemala are not so sure.

The Metro had pictures but the link to the story is no longer available (2019).

Things What Done Fell from the Sky: Raining Fire

For roughly 10 minutes on the night of October 18th, 1867, fire reportedly fell from the sky over Thames Ditton, Surrey, England. The following morning, puddles and rainwater tanks were, "Thickly covered with a deposit of sulfur."

A couple of weeks later, eyewitnesses in Chatham, England claimed to have seen numerous black discs in the sky above. These disks were propelled by some unknown means that produced smoke.

'Dead Alien' Filmed in Russia

Shortly after being released online, this video of a supposed "dead alien" in Russia became an Internet sensation. Though I do not speak Russian, I have a good idea as to the discussion taking place between the unseen recorders. The "corpse" was found near the town of Irkutsk, where strange lights have been seen and filmed in recent days.

After viewing the video, I'm going to say it's very good, but it isn't real. It is nice, though.

Sammy Hagar Claims He Was Abducted by Aliens

In an interview with MTV, rocker Sammy Hagar says he believes he was once abducted by aliens and taken aboard a spaceship. He also says he threw rocks at a UFO in broad daylight when he was about four and may have blacked-out following that. He denied that either incident was a dream and says the reason more of these stories are not included in his new autobiography, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock, is because his collaborator dissuaded him from including them.

Russia to Investigate Alien Abduction Claims

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, a former chess champion and millionaire businessman who has presided over the small Southern region of Kalmykia for over 15 years, told an interviewer during a primetime TV special that he had been taken aboard an alien spacecraft, where tests were then performed on him. He also stated that there were several witnesses who could verify his claim.

Now, Russian MPs are asking the President to look into the allegations, to find out whether or not they are serious, whether or not they are real, whether or not Ilyumzhinov is fit to lead, and whether or not he may have divulged military and political secrets to aliens. Also in the request is whether or not there is a protocol for such events.

Ilyumzhinov is known as an "eccentric."

Paradox Takes on Chariots of the Gods

Erich von Daniken's 1968 best-seller, Chariots of the Gods, has been optioned to be made into a sci-fi film by Paradox Entertainment.  The film company is also set to make a new Conan movie, and one of the producers involved shepherded all three Lord of the Rings movies.

While von Daniken's book was non-fiction, the Chariots of the Gods movie will be science-fiction, based on the premise that aliens have visited earth many times before, throughout history.  In the (great, BTW) book, von Daniken offers plenty of pseudo-scientific evidence to back-up his claims that these visits were the catalysts for many of Man's greatest achievements.  While the evidence he presented is strong, the truth is that there is no smoking gun and all of it is open to interpretation.

Erich von Daniken's interpretation is truly no more convoluted than the pop-science bullshit proffered by the scientists who reject his hypotheses -- in too many cases.

Biblical Aliens

I don't touch deeply on my own, personal religious beliefs very often here because they do not necessarily have a place in most of the discussions. Further, while I do have some deeply-held religious beliefs, when dealing in these areas, they are often used against you, so I find it best to largely leave my personal feelings on such matters aside.

Having said all of this, when I come across bizarrely ignorant articles (with which the Internet is so wonderfully rife), I feel a need to point them out for the nonsensical bunk they are. Such is the case with this article by "Babu Ranganathan" 1 from The Conservative Voice.

I won't bother destroying each and every "point" Ba-Ba-booey here makes because anyone who can actually make it through more than a handful of paragraphs is doing better than I, but I do want to take aim at the author, itself:

This is a subversive work meant to "empower" zealous, Right-Wing "Christians" while simultaneously denigrating their beliefs. "Babu" translates best into "an Indian who writes English, often disparagingly" (see link for source). "Ranganathan" probably corresponds to the Indian scholar 2 who developed Colon classification

More curiously, a Dr. Rama Ranganathan is a researcher of evolutionary theory... from Texas. Whether or not this is the same guy who wrote the article is unclear but, if it is, he should be deeply ashamed of himself! (For the record, I sincerely doubt the two have anything in common, except the name.)

This is a "hoax" article... or this guy had a seriously bad day and still has some real soul-searching to do to rectify his faith with his beliefs. And science, and the rest of the world, and...

How alien life fits into God's Plan and Creationism is a sticking point for many Christians -- and one I can appreciate -- though it need not be. After all, according to Judaeo-Christian Mythology, the Bible (and the supporting Canon) was written by men generally accepted to have been in the throes of Divine Inspiration, which others call the Holy Spirit, and Man is fallible (this, of course, being the very basis of the Christian faith and the entire point of the story of the Garden of Eden!); these men would be largely unconcerned with what we, today, call "alien life." In fact, had they witnessed such, they likely would have thought it/them to be angels, demons, or some other embodiment of the religious/mythological figures and personae in which they believed.

Men writing in Biblical Times would -- according to what we think we know today -- have had no more reason to include alien life forms in their religion, mythology, or various disciplines and bodies of knowledge than we have of including lifeforms, shapes, colors, dimensions, or anything else with which our own knowledge of science does not account for. In fact, while there is some evidence that certain cultures had access to aerial vehicles (notably balloons), popular theory holds that men of ancient times had no means of becoming productively airborne, so whatever would lead them to think of intelligent life up there? (Read on!)

Yet this all comes with a caveat:

According to many, the Bible does mention UFOs -- in many forms. The Book of Enoch, excised from the Bible for numerous reasons, is seen by some as evidence of an alien abduction. According to the excellent The Bible UFO Connection 3, there are at least 362 references to what can be construed as UFOs or aliens in the accepted version of the King James Bible. In fact, the most probable translation of the word, "Heaven" is sky -- that's why people point up when they refer to it!

Of course, most of this is conjecture -- yet not of the faith-based variety; what has been accepted as The Word of God came from many languages 4 and has been translated many times throughout the ages. In fact, therein lay the argument against the concept of Hell itself (as "sheol" can also be translated as "death" and the Bible makes it fairly clear that those who die without Salvation are doomed to forever be without God, not burning in lakes of fire nor anything so cinematically horrific). The corruption of the source material, through both translation across many languages as well as transcriber error (the handwritten documents were made by translators and scribes until the advent of the printing press, ca. the 15th-Century), as well as many changes made by the Church, the Court, and countless other factions, means we will probably never know what "God's Word" -- that which was to be recorded and dispersed by the faithful of his flock -- ever was!

But, neither the existence of alien life nor cryptozoological finds preclude the Word of God, the Bible, nor Christianity. And unchecked zealotry of the weirdest kind, as exemplified in the aforementioned "article," should be dismissed out-of-hand for the Bible-beating nonsense it really is.

Alien Visits Doubled Since 'Close Encounters' Release

According to once-secret documents from England's Ministry of Defense, aliens have been visiting for decades, their trips doubling after the release of Steven Spielberg's 1977 film, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

The release of the documents is the first in a four-year program which will disseminate all of the Ministry's reports from 1978 to the present day. While they dismiss 90% of these as having mundane explanations, that still leaves over 1000 cases without explanation. Regardless, they assure the public there is nothing to be afraid of.

Many of the reports included are obviously the products of insanity, ignorance, or sheer stupidity -- but there are several, very interesting, reports. Many of these cases were investigated but England's own "Project Bluebook" also concluded that UFOs do not exist.

Of course they don't.
