What's All the Haboob, Bub?

Some citizens in and around Arizona have taken umbrage to weathermen's use of the word "haboob" to describe the dust storms residents have faced in recent months. These dust storms are caused by thunderstorms with high winds which pick up sand, loose dirt, and dust particles. While not uncommon to the area, Arizona has seen a large number of them recently.

"Haboob" is the term used to describe similar dust storms in other parts of the world, and technically the correct term for meteorologists. Insiders say these weathermen often use the word off-camera, but downplay it on TV to avoid confusing viewers.

Arizona is on the border of Mexico and attracts many would-be immigrants who want to enter the country illegally. Mexico is largely under the rule of large, and very dangerous, drug cartels. These crimes have been spilling into the state of Arizona for some time now and the mainstream media downplays their significance as "racism." However, Arizona residents have good reason to worry, as their state has become a hotbed of criminal activity that no one seems willing to tackle.

The controversy was actually created by a small number of people who have just enough time on their hands to not only be offended by the term "haboob," but to bother writing-in to the media outlets to express it. By and large, this fringe minority insists that Arizona's dust storms are unique from others and shouldn't be lumped-in with the rest.

Opponents say this nonsense is spurred by xenophobia, and possibly racism.

The Psychology of Sororicide

Kerby Revelus had been in a little trouble with police over the years, all having to do with assault, including a stint in jail for carrying an unlicensed gun. He was shot to death by police when one saw him decapitate his sister with a knife. Now, all three family members will be laid to rest at the same time.

While the reports discussing the brutal crime insist that Revelus' record bore "no indication" of such brutality, I disagree. I mean, the guy had already been arrested for punching his sister in the face because she owed him money on a phone bill. He was again cited for a fight involving several other teenagers. And let us not forget the gun incident.

Double sororicide and decapitation is a few steps beyond, I freely grant, but I think Revelus' record clearly suggests a violent, young man. That Revelus was black compounds the matter, not explains it; "angry black, American male" is more than just a stereotype and is celebrated in the sub-culture through incredibly violent lyrics. The culture glorifies excessive violence and we Americans have come to accept that; I believe officials - who, again, are used to such extremes - saw something within Kerby Revelus which suggested he was capable of great violence.

While statisticians like to decry how black Americans are more likely to be imprisoned, or even arrested, than whites, they fail to include the celebration of violence which has become inherent in the culture. However, IRL, we Americans are largely anesthetized to it. In fact, violence in general is rather inherent to the American culture and killing one's siblings is an idea many of us have considered... often (as a simple search for "sororicide" proves). Kerby Revelus had to have exhibited some traits others saw which led them to believe he was an exception to the general rule (that rule being that violence between siblings, and things like young, black Americans carrying guns, are not immediate grounds for arrest or conviction).

All of this is unfortunately subject to an even simpler factor which cannot be ignored: money. The American justice system is thoroughly corrupt and many people are cited for "crimes" which are not really indicative of criminal behavior; laws have had to be put into place to limit these legal abuses - such as issuing traffic tickets to those who exceed the posted speed limit by as few as 2-3 MPH. It's a sad fact that once a person "catches papers" (has a record), the law goes into a holding pattern which is hard to get out of.

But Revelus was only 23!

The truth is that his first arrest for punching his sister occurred when he was barely of majority age. Kerby Revelus was probably a violent juvenile (and I'm thinking juvenile offender). I mean, there are plenty of exceptions, but most cops will let similar family disputes go - white or black. At worst, the case goes to court, where it is dismissed with prejudice (meaning court costs are assessed), which solves the city's getting its money; to press charges in such a case leads me to believe there were factors pulling in the "this kid could snap" direction.

Decapitating a human being is definitely extreme behavior, but cases involving familial disputes usually involve extreme violence. Even a cursory familiarity with primetime "crime shows" teaches you that cases involving "overkill" almost always involve someone who knew the victim well; overkill is the hallmark of an attack by someone who knew the victim, generally speaking.

The decapitation does not surprise me. What surprises me is Revelus' rather extensive (for a 23-year old) record of assault and etc., and the insistence that there was "no indication" of his capacity for violence. Separate the decapitation from this account and it's barely newsworthy in this day and age.

Still, for as often as I thought about, or even expressed, murdering a sibling, I never seriously considered acting on such thoughts and I think this is safe to assume of most people. Something about Kerby Revelus made officials think he just might, yet they failed to act responsibly to prevent such an incident and, instead, worked to escalate the situation -- which is the central tenet of "Occupation" by Hostile forces.

UPDATE:  While Kirby Revelus' actions, and the psychology behind it, remain a mystery, new research supports the idea that he may have been a Targeted Individual subject to a "law enforcement" technique known as "gangstalking."  A pernicious, Hostile, Terroristic tactic frequently employed by American Law Enforcement and Defense agencies.  The OddBlog covers Targeted Individuals, Gangstalking, and the methodologies and technologies employed in its pursuit exhaustively.

Gangstalking Targeted Individuals is used extensively within the Black American community, often by organized crime units working in tandem with Law Enforcement agencies as "CI" in a technique known as a "Lockstep."

The Weirding frequently bumps the "Violent Raps" and Heavy Metal -- loud AF.  Death Metal and Gangster Rap, in particular, are two of our most beloved genres.  We also oppose ISrael and ISraeli expansion, and are currently targeted by numerous, related, paramilitary entities working in conjunction with the US Federal Government (including the JDL/ADL, FIDF, Black Cube, and PropOrNot/Hamilton 68).

Aryan Sorcerer Jailed

Dmitriy V. Sklyarov, 20, is a self-proclaimed "Aryan Sorcerer" and leader of an Indiana separatist group which denounces blacks and Jews. Other members include... no one.

Dmitriy held a 30-minute "rally" on the steps of Muncie's courthouse in March, 2007, declaring his hatred for blacks and Jews and posted much the same nonsense on his MySpace page. He dropped-out of highschool, where it is reported he stayed in trouble. He called the school recently and left messages claiming to have created dolls in the images of several teachers, which he adorned with his own blood. He predicted the teachers would become sick "and die." For good measure, he added a "Hail, Satan!"

Dmitriy was actually arrested for repeatedly biting a 9-year old boy left in his care.

But you would have to really read the story from The Star Press of Eastern Indiana to find that out - it's buried somewhere in there.

Racial Rights

Homer Plessy was arrested in New Orleans on June 7^th, 1892, for disobeying a law stating that blacks and whites could not ride on the same railroad car. This led to a constitutional challenge of the law which ended in 1896, when the Supreme Court ruled that the law did not violate the 13^th and 14^th Amendments. However, the (incorrectly numbered) 13^th Amendment, abolishing slavery, had been ratified in 1864 and 1865, so this ruling was wrong.

On May 17^th, 1954 - one day shy of the 58^th anniversary of Plessy's ruling - the Supreme Court overturned that incorrect verdict. Legalized segregation was stricken-down with Brown v. Board of Education.

Best Not to Say It Pt. 2 - James Watson and the Origin of Species

James Watson, Nobel Laureate, has resigned his post at the American-based Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, amidst allegations that he suggested African descendants were less intelligent than Europeans.

Okay, here's the thing about that:

If scientists truly wish to further this idea of Evolution -- an idea even Darwin himself rejected at the time of his death -- in opposition to any sort of higher power's involvement (I think all of us outside the Southern Baptist sect can agree that "Divine Creation" as set forth in the Bible is unacceptable as our true origin) as the only "logical" solution as to how we modern humans came to be, then we have to accept, largely (according to what Science claims to know now), that we naturally evolved from some kind of ape-like stock.

Africans bear large, wide noses -- not unlike a certain, closely-related, genus often forwarded as our most likely "cousin" on the Evolutionary chart. They possess sloped foreheads, prominent lips, coarse hair, and dark skin. Apes, monkeys, gorillas, chimps -- all indigenous to Africa.

But wait! Before you go all "Jena 6" on me, let me add a little more information, just so you know I am truly not being "racist" (as to how such a thing could even exist in such a discussion is beyond me, though I have to admit, it is not an Americanism):

The gorilla was said not to have existed and those who claimed to have seen it were ridiculed - in fact, it drove more than one notable scientist out of science altogether (and most likely mad) - until it was "discovered" in @1908. Darwin's Origin of Species was first published in, or around, 1860 (though he had been working on it for a long time prior to that date - at least a decade or more - and another scientist had actually "scooped" him).

When the British Colonists "invaded" Africa under the reign of Queen Victoria, they pitied the Africans and sought to "educate" and "modernize" them in what has come to be known as "White Guilt." A truly misguided effort which actually bore all the earmarks of a sincere attempt at goodwill, but regrettable, nonetheless.

What Watson was actually suggesting, insofar as I discerned, was that Africans could very well be the "Missing Link" so often discussed in Evolutionary theory.

It's just too bad he was working in America when he dared postulate on such a "radical" idea.

America has yet to learn that it cannot have its cake and eat it, too; just can't have it both ways, no matter how hard it tries - no matter how it rails against God, life, and reality - America has set itself up for failure and continues to tell everyone who gets in its way that they "got what they deserve," yet refuses to accept its own fate.

America cannot live up to its own "standards" because no one can, and until America not only understands that but actually owns it, all we Americans are as oppressed as the rest of the huddled masses we are spending our tax dollars "protecting."

I, for one, would like to applaud Dr. James Watson for his integrity and initiative! Perhaps he is wrong - who knows yet? - but at least one scientist had the balls to stand up for the actual process of Getting On With It and said what needs to be said:

Life is ugly and messy and we cannot change that, no matter how hard we try.
