The word "manna" is defined as "food of the gods" and comes from at least one story in the Holy Bible. There are several theories as to what manna is, both historically and otherwise, as well as to what exactly the substance is that that fell in Persia in 1828, but the reason it is noteworthy - aside from the obvious fact that something unknown fell from the sky and covered the fields - is that the livestock consumed it "enthusiastically."
The material, whatever it was, covered the fields to a depth of 7-8".
