Hawk Attacks Suspend Mail Service

Thanks to a family of four hawks, mail to about 150 homes in the Calgary area has been suspended. According to mail officials and several eyewitnesses, at least one hawk in particular routinely dive-bombed a mail carrier so viciously, it even broke the helmet the carrier wore as protection!

Residents have a running joke not to make eye contact with the birds, lest they attack, but the frequent assaults are no laughing matter for the post office, which has suspended the mail route to about 150 homes in the area. The hawks usually fly South for the winter, which begins in the area in only a few weeks, and officials hope to resume the route then.
