Last week, at least 20 female Tanzanian students fainted during an exam.
Mass faintings are pretty much de rigeur for the area. There was another mass fainting spell recently, which was covered on the original blog (the post is now deleted) -- in fact, according to the report, there have been several such spells this month alone! It generally only affects girls and is the result of a general, mass hysteria.
"There was chaos, crying, screaming, running..." said a spokesperson for the educational department in the region.
