I heard somewhere that accidents account for the large majority of injuries and deaths. Of course, there are the "slipped in the shower" variety accidents, the "stepped on a rake" accidents, and then there is this one:
6-year old Erica Rix was playing with a jump rope in the backseat of her mother's car. The end of the rope was flying out the window when it became entangled in the rear axle, slicing the little girl's hand clean from her arm!
A good Samaritan heard the mother screaming frantically and made a tourniquet for little Erica's arm. After 9 hours of surgery, her hand was not only reattached, she is expected to make a full recovery!
