A flock of 100 sheep is usually lent to the National Trust in order to graze on/around Cerne Abbas in Dorset, but due to a shortage, the ancient, 180' Cerne Abbas Giant landmark is overgrown and had to be rechalked.
The first reports of the Cerne Abbas Giant (or "Rude Man") date back to the 1600s. No one knows who laid the lines of the large human form, but many believe it is some kind of ancient fertility symbol. However, the figure lay close to the Benedectine Abbey - it is doubtful the monks would have tolerated such a landmark for obvious reasons (its pagan history, its erect penis). This has led others to theorize that it may have been created much later. One theory is that it mocks none other than Oliver Cromwell.
