Dead Mayor Emerges Victorious

A Romanian village so detests change that they re-elected their dead mayor.

Neculai Ivascu died a week before the election before canceling the vote. He had led the Romanian village of Voinesti for two decades. Villagers were so against change that they voted for him anyway... and an official declared him the winner!

His opponent said he will challenge the decision and several villagers have called for a new vote but, as of this post, a dead man is the mayor of Voinesti.
